The end...

After nine days of competition, TE Birkerød 2011 is over. I want to thank all players – nearly 275 - who came to Birkerød from far and near. Together, they made the tournament, once again, a great success!

Thanks also to coaches, parents and others, who have been visible on-site every day. Many of them came with a tent, and the mixture of courts and camps created a very nice atmosphere. Our park-like site is well suited to this kind of arrangement...

A special mention should be made of the large group of players and coaches from Tennisteam Het Noorden in the Netherlands, led by Jack Driessen. They came to the tournament with 25 players in all three age groups - 12&Under, 14&Under and 16&Under - and made a great impact on the tournament, on court as well as off court...

Such a big international tournament cannot be organized without the contribution and dedication of many volunteers. Let me take this opportunity to thank them all, including:
 

·        The referee, Tom Gustavsen. Tom not only knows all the rules and regulations of the game, but he is also very efficient to make the draws, match programmes etc. - and to calm things down when conflicts tend to arise both inside and outside the courts...

·        Members of the tournament committee – Jenny Hannestad, Anette Lassen, Vibeke Berge, Ulla Raaschou, Malene Krause and Helle Nymann - for their support. Their excellent teamwork ensures a top service to players, a good flow in the match programme and that results are safely recorded…

·         Members of the stringer service, including Emil Kindt Jørgensen, Jonathan Hannestad and Frederik Nymann. A tournament of the size of TE Birkerød cannot be run without an effective stringer service, and in that role you guys did a great job!

·        The court service, and that involves just one person: Flemming Loyche. With nearly 500 matches to be played over a little longer than a week, there is an enormous pressure on the clay courts. However, with Flemming taking care of the courts, I cannot think of anyone better in that position...

·        Café Inside which means Connie Dittmann and her team. Connie, you came early in the morning and worked hard until late in the evening, serving meals, cookies, refreshments etc. Fantastic! 

      In Birkerød TK we already look forward to next year's TE tournament - and hope to see y'all again...

Towards Centre Court...
TE Birkerød 2011 is getting close to the end. Yesterday, all U16 finals were played, and today the best U14 players of the tournament are ready to fight for the top positions. The matches begin Sunday morning at 10. Come and see the future stars in action on the courts!  You can see the match programme here.

12&Under

Yesterday, we nearly completed the first round of group matches. Today, we continue with matches from 9am. All results and the match programme is posted on-site in the tournament tent. We are aware that some of the U12 players are also playing today in other tournaments. Please call Jeanette Justesen at +45 2920 0277 if you have any queries. Only few matches will be played between noon and 3pm when the U16 finals will be played, both singles and doubles. Also the U14 doubles will be played today, starting around 2:30. Stop by and watch the matches with high-quality tennis...

12&Under - again...
The match programme for the 12&Under event will be ready in the evening, possibly late...  A list of participants (with a few openings...) and sketch of dates and time intervals of the matches can be found here.  For Danish players, who also play a national tournament, we will be flexible with the timing of your matches...  

Holdinddelingerne vil blive vist på siden i morgen. De indbyrdes hollandske opgør vil blive afviklet torsdag. Fredag starter pigerne kl. 12, og der spilles to kampe. Drengene møder fredag kl. 15, og der spilles ligeledes to kampe. De danske spillere afvikler deres indbyrdes kampe lørdag morgen, med kampstart kl. 8:30. Finalekampe afvikles lørdag eftermiddag og søndag formiddag.

12&Under...
Following up on last year's succes with a sub-tournament for players aged 12&under, this year also offers a chance for younger players to get international experience... This part of the tournament is informal, in the sense that we play according to our own rules, and that players won't earn points to the TE ranking. Yet, it is an important event and part of the  tournament, with its own organizing committee, trophies etc. You can se here how it was organized last year. And here you can see the list of participants this year. The 12&under programme begins when the main tournament is half way through, that is on Wednesday or Thursday in week # 25. The details of the programme will be available on this site very soon. If you want to participate, please enter through the electronic entry procedure in the above menu (click "U12 entry" and fill in the entry form). If you need more info, feel free to send an e-mail to te@btsk.dk.

Sign-in for the main draw...
Today is the day where all players accepted for the main draw MUST sign in. This takes place in the tournament tent between 4 and 6 pm. In exceptional cases sign-in can be done via telephone...

Up and running...
We have now passed the deadline for signing in to the qualifying draws for 14&Under. The draw has been made for boys, but there will be no qualifying matches for girls, as all players are accepted for the main draw. You can find the draw schemes and match programme on .www.tenniseurope.org

Info brochure...
The Tournament Committee has prepared a brochure with information about transport, stringing service, practice courts, various activities etc. The brochure will be updated during the tournament. Wild cards...
The Danish Tennis Association (DTF) has now offered a wild card (WC) to four girls and four boys in the age group 14&Under. The tournament organizer has offered a similar number of WCs to players in that age group. Since all entered players in the age group 16&Under have been accepted into the main draw, WCs have only been offered to a few non-entered players in that age group. The complete list of WCs can be seen here.  There are still some openings for "late entries" to the main draw for girls and boys aged 16&Under and to the qualifying draw for girls and boys aged 14&Under.  Let us know, by sending an e-mail to te@btsk.dk, if you want to be considered for a WC - or if you have any clarifying questions.
